I madly love horses, they are so beautiful and elegant. One day when I buy my dream farm I will get a couple of my own. Here are some 35mm film photos I have taken of some horses in Floyd and Blacksburg over the past year or so. A few of these are available as prints in my print shop if you are interested [so are a couple of zebra prints]. I don’t update the print shop very often, but if you see something that I post on here that you would like to see as a print, let me know and I will get it formatted and uploaded for you.
This might sound a bit silly, but I have no idea what to title this post. When I was first approached by Laura and she mentioned the word “fiance” I instantly thought engagement photos. After a couple follow up e-mails I found out she wanted more of a focus on the animals (their two dogs and their horse Jackson). Once I arrived it ended up being more like two hours of me indulging in the company of many horses which are one of my favorite animals, but I almost never get a chance to be up close to them. Laura was surprised by my willingness to get up close and personal with these beautiful creatures, but I assured her it was out of child-like ignorance that I walked straight up and put a camera into their faces and started petting them and not from experience. Horses probably kick people like me and sit on them for not knowing better than to stand back, luckily that was not my experience at all! One did nibble on my fingers a bit, but I am pretty sure that it is because she liked me as much as I liked her. So big thank you Laura for inviting me out to spend an enjoyable, unseasonably warm winter afternoon to take your engagement photographs, pet photographs, and/or horse photographs, I had an amazing time!
