I try to walk everywhere I go (other than the grocery store). It gives me a chance to take different routes around town, see new things that I wouldn’t notice riding around in a car and I find some great places to take photos. I took these photos around downtown Blacksburg a couple of weeks ago. Many of these pieces of street art were fairly fresh, but some of them have been around for a while. You may recognize the Charlie Sheen and red paper airplane graffiti from Eva’s faux bridal portraits a few months ago. There are a few prime alleyways around Blacksburg to find street art so I try to visit them frequently, you never know when something lovely will be painted over and gone forever.
I’m not 100% sure who all of the graffiti artists responsible for these works are, but I do know that the Charlie Sheen piece and the “BURG” one from the second photo are by KaBoom Art.
Presenting Bookish Volume 2, this time my model was the lovely and extremely inspiring Miss Brittany. I love her fresh and unfinished tattoo on her leg! And since I’ve already had someone ask what the tattoo on her knuckles says, it is “Oh My”.
This is the first installment of a series called Bookish. My friend Joli of Actin’ Up with Books wanted some book-related photos and I was looking for a project. Since people taking 35mm film photos is a dying art similar to reading written word on paper I decided to put the two together.
Thank you so much to the gorgeous artist/tattoo extraordinaire Sarah for being my model… She surprised me and showed up at my house out of the blue one day (she lives on the other side of the state) so I pulled her out to a park with a stack of books to take these photos.
Prints and note cards are available here if you are interested.
I’ve started a project with my friend Karly which we are calling “chaque semaine” which is French for “each week”. Every week for the next 52+ weeks we will each post a photo based on the theme of the week from a list we compiled. This week’s theme is “Party” and since we are only posting one of the photos each week to the chaque semaine blog, I figured I would share all of them here!
My goal is to take at least one photo per day for the next year aka Project 365. I started on October 1 and rather than drive myself crazy and bombard you with a daily photo post I will be doing a weekly wrap up with my photos for the week. I am a little behind posting because I have been using a lot of film lately which takes a little while to have developed.
